Indigo Shadows.

Author's Note's- This story is mine. I don't own X-MEN, they belong to Marvel, or Jean-Claude, he belongs to Laurell K. Hamilton, Julian and Lily, and The Haven belong to White Wolf Inc, but I do own Rei. Send comments to
Aishiteru: I love you.
Oni Aman: Demon Lover
Sayonara: Good bye
Auf Wiedersehen: Goodbye
Darkness. Shadows. That's all he is now, a shadow of his former self. His name is Kurt Wagner. He's an X-Man. Or he was, but not any more. Kurt's a vampire now. Kurt remembered being mortal, but that all ended when he was embraced.
Being turned was painful. He had been attacked from behind and felt a sharp sting at his throat. Kurt could feel his blood spill and he thankfully passed out, the stars fading in a painful haze. Kurt woke up to find himself lying on a soft blanket and looking up at the ceiling. He realized that he had been moved; he had been outside when he had been attacked.
"Where? Where am I?"
"You're awake." said a voice.
Kurt looked around and winced. It was too bright. It was then that Kurt realized that it was night, but he could see everything like it was daylight.
"It's been three days and nights. You're one of us now." the voice continued.
Kurt sat up and looked around. He could see and hear everything like it was right next to him. "What are you talking about? Who are you?" he asked.
The voice laughed. "Don't you remember? I made you."
"Vas? No?" Kurt whispered. But he couldn't deny it; it all came rushing back. His blood being drained and someone placing their wrist to his lips. The vampire's blood burned as they forced it down his throat, but it was sweet at the same time.
Kurt shook his head, bringing himself back to the present. No use to remember it now. He has things to do, people to say goodbye too.
There she is now. The one person Kurt knew he would miss. The only one he had thought about keeping with him forever.
Rei.
She lay down on her bed. Kurt could tell she had been crying.
"Poor liebling." he whispered, as she fell asleep.
Kurt quickly and quietly climbed into Rei's room. He glanced at her left hand and saw that she still wore the claddauth ring he had given her.
"With the heart pointed towards her. Still thinks of herself as mine." he thought. "What about the necklace?" Kurt wondered and smiled sadly at this.
Rei's eyes fluttered open.
"Hi Rei."
Rei gasped and sat up.
"Kurt!" she cried out, folding him into a hug.
Kurt hugged her back hard, but not hard enough to hurt her.
Rei had her ear against Kurt's chest when she heard something. Or rather didn't hear. She pulled away.
"I can't hear your heart beat." She let her nose go cat and sniffed the air.
"You're dead." she stated flatly.
"Undead."
"A vampire."
Kurt nodded. "I've come to say goodbye."
Rei reached up and tucked a lock of Kurt's hair behind his ear. Kurt grabbed her wrist, Rei jumped at his speed.
"Don't do that. Don't touch me Rei, please."
Rei asked why.
"I can hear your heart beat. I can almost smell your blood flowing through your veins. I'm barely controlling myself right now."
Kurt's eyes blazed red for a moment. "See?"
Rei nodded wordlessly.
Kurt gently kissed Rei.
"Don't leave me." she whispered.
"I don't want to." Kurt replied. He tilted Rei's head and bit her neck. He quickly sucked away the blood and stepped away from her. "I have to liebling. Otherwise I'll hurt you or someone else."
"I understand. Sayonara my Oni Aman." Rei whispered. "I don't like loosing you again, but I understand."
"Auf Wiedersehen mein liebling." Kurt whispered and escaped through Rei's window.
"Aishiteru my Oni Aman." Rei said to the empty room, the tears dripping down her chin.
Kurt looked back at Rei's window. "I love you too." he whispered, tears of blood running down his face. Kurt walked away from the house to the waiting car at the edge of the property.
"Well?" asked the man leaning against the black jag.
Kurt quickly wiped off the blood tears. "It's done." he said.
Jean-Claude smiled, his dark blue eyes flashing. "Good."
Kurt's golden eyes narrowed angrily, as he stared at his sire. "I just lost the woman that I love, and that's all you have to say??" he snarled.
Jean-Claude's hand lashed out and wrapped around Kurt's throat.
Kurt gagged.
"I am the one that made you." he growled pulling Kurt close. "I am your sire! It would do you good to remember that."
Jean-Claude let Kurt go. "Let's go." he said, turning around, his long, black, curly hair swirling in the air and getting in the car.
Kurt growled, the moonlight flashing off his fangs and got into the car.
"Kurt look, it's better this way. You're immortal, she's not." Jean-Claude said as they drove away.
"Right, sure. Whatever." Kurt replied.
~5 years later~
Rei sat the last box and looked around her new apartment. She had just moved to San Francisco and wanted to make a new start.
"So why are you still wearing the ring?" she said to herself, as she hung up her clothes in her closet.
She went back over to her bed where there was a box that held what she was looking for. From the cardboard box, she took out a small, wooden keepsake box. The box was made of cherry wood and had stars and moons carved into it. It was about a century old and had been handed down from mother to daughter. She opened the box and stared at the contents debating whether or not to take off the ring.
Rei sighed. "You wanted to start over. That's why you quit the X-Men, why you took a job and moved across the country." she thought. Inside the box was the necklace, and some love letters Kurt had written her. Also inside were a few pictures of the X-Men. Closing her eyes, Rei pulled off the ring, threw it into the box and slammed the lid shut. "It's over. As far as I'm concerned, he's dead and no longer matters to me." she said, walking away from the box.
Kurt stood on the Golden Gate Bridge looking at the night sky. His eyes widened in the darkness. "No way, it can't be." he thought.
"Is something wrong Kurt?"
Kurt jumped slightly "Oh. Hello Lily, Julian."
Julian and Lily were vampires like Kurt, but they were older then him. Julian has short black hair that he kept slicked back, green eyes and was a little taller then Kurt. He had been a vampire for about 200 years and was the master of San Francisco. Lily was about Kurt's height, had blue eyes and was 120 years old.
"What is it?" Lily asked.
Kurt looked at them wondering if he should tell them. He had been through a lot in the past five years. Mostly it was the death of his sire and his banishment from New York. A slayer had killed Jean-Claude and Kurt had been banished from New York for betraying him.
"She's here. I can feel her."
"You mean Rei." Julian asked. He had told them a little about Rei.
Kurt nodded. "When I bit her, it made some sort of psychic bond with her. Whenever she's in the same city, I can feel her. It's not to bad, like a small hum in my head."
"Are you gonna talk to her?" Lily asked, as the walked off the bridge.
"I don't know." Kurt replied.
A few nights later, Rei made it to the Haven. She had heard about it from some friends and wanted to check it out for herself. She glanced at the sign hanging outside The Haven was written in Morpheus and lit in bright green. She stepped inside the door and looked around.
"Welcome to The Haven." said a woman with brown hair and blue eyes.
"Thanks." Rei said.
There was a band playing, a dance floor, and various tables and booths. Rei walked over to the bar and ordered a coke.
Kurt and Julian were sitting in a darkened booth and were watching the crowd, when Kurt felt Rei enter the building. He saw that Rei had come in, Lily went up to her and welcomed her, since she was the owner, Rei thanked her and went over to the bar and ordered a drink.
Julian followed Kurt's gaze. "That's her?" he asked.
Kurt nodded. "That's her."
"That's who?" Lily asked, sitting next to them.
"That woman that you welcomed. She's Rei." Julian said, taking a drink from his wine glass.
Lily locked in on Rei. "She's pretty Kurt."
"She's beautiful." Kurt replied, staring at Rei.
Rei felt someone staring at her and turned around to look.
Kurt continued looking at her and noticed what she was wearing and what she wasn't.
What she was wearing was blue jeans, a off the shoulder dark green shirt and black sneakers. What she wasn't wearing was the ring or necklace her had given her.
Rei didn't see anyone, but the strange pulse she had been feeling lately was stronger now.
Still nothing. Rei pushed it out of her mind and started to enjoy herself. A few hours later, Rei left the club and Kurt followed.
Rei walked down the dark street. She still felt the pulse like a low-grade throb at the base of her skull. It seemed to be getting stronger and Rei turned around.
"All right damnit! Who the hell is following me?" she demanded.
Kurt slipped into the shadows as she turned.
Rei waited.
Nothing jumped out. She started walking again, keeping an eye out.
"Mien liebling. You won't see me until it's too late." Kurt thought, following her again.
Rei entered her apartment building. Kurt let her go. He looked at the buzzer arrangement. R. Neko 5-C. Kurt committed her apartment number to memory and walked away smiling, a plan forming in his head.
Rei unlocked the door to her apartment and walked in. The pulse was gone. The strangest thing was, it had felt familiar. Like the feeling she got when Kurt was right behind her, she'd turn around and there he was. Sighing, she relocked the door and went to bed.
Kurt smiled. She was asleep.
"Time to see what little kitties dream?. It's Kurt. In Rei's mind. With the seduction." Kurt slipped into Rei's mind quietly. He walked through fog and shadows until he saw her. He glided up behind her and whispered the exact same words he had said the last time her saw her in her ear.
"Hi Rei."
Rei whirled around to face him, a thousand emotions flickering across her face.
"Kurt, what are you doing here?"
"Is that any way to say hello to the love of your life liebling? Haven't you missed me?" he asked, brushing a few strands of Rei's hair off her face and pulling her into his arms.
"Truth? Yeah, I have." Rei admitted.
Kurt gently pressed his lips to Rei's nibbling on them "I'm right here liebling and I'll never leave."
Rei smiled sadly. "Just shut up and hold me. Even if you are a figment of my imagination." she whispered.
Kurt raised an eyebrow. "I'm very real liebling and I'll prove it."
"How?"
Kurt rubbed the scar he had left on Rei's neck.
"I'm sorry about the scar." he whispered.
"How are you going to prove you're real?" Rei asked again.
"Like this." Kurt held out his hand. In a flash of light, a bracelet appeared. It was a band made of silver stars and crescent moons.
"Here." he said, and put it on Rei's wrist.
"Pretty. Can I ask you a question?"
Kurt nodded.
Rei moved out of Kurt's arms. "Well actually it's two. I've been feeling this strange pulse in my head lately. That's you isn't it? And why this, why can't I see you in person?"
"That's three." Kurt pointed out.
Rei shot him a look.
"Okay, okay. Yes it's me. When I bit you it made some sort of psychic bond between us. We can sense each other if we are in the same city and I can come into your mind."
"Hey, can I do that? 'Cause it's only fair."
Kurt shrugged. "I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?"
"I mean I don't know. Most likely you can. We'll find out later." Kurt whispered, making the hairs on her neck stand up, as he pulled her close again.
Rei growled softly, grabbed Kurt's arm and flipped him over her shoulder.
Kurt landed with a thwack and groaned. He hadn't been expecting this.
"Then again, maybe not." he said weakly.
"Damn straight." Rei hissed. "What the hell do you want?"
Kurt didn't answer he just stared at her, not blinking his golden eyes once.
Rei blew out a puff of air and yanked him to his feet. "I'll say it again and don't make me repeat myself. What the hell do you want?"
"To see you." Kurt choked out.
Rei bared her teeth and tightened her grip. "Why?"
"I wanted to see how you were holding up, after everything that had happened."
"You mean after you left me?"
"I'm sorry about that. I didn't want it to happen like that, but it had to."
Rei let Kurt go with a sigh. She then pulled her left arm back and slugged Kurt across the jaw, feeling and hearing her knuckles crack.
"Bastard."
Kurt stumbled back. He defiantly hadn't been expecting that. If he hadn't been a vampire, that punch would of broken his jaw. As it was, he felt a small trickle of blood run down his chin, which he licked up.
"Get out." Rei said.
"What?"
"Get out." she repeated. "I don't want you in here, you're not welcome here." Rei stated.
Kurt stayed where he was.
Rei glared at him. "Get the hell out of my mind right now!!" she howled.
Kurt felt a pressure from all sides and he knew that Rei was mentally forcing him out. It felt like a blast of raging, hot air as he fell back into his own body.
"Well, that went well." he snorted.
He put a hand to his jaw. "Ow. Damn, that hurts." Taking his hand away, he saw a bit of blood on it. His jaw was already healing, but it wouldn't hurt to put some ice on it.
Meanwhile at Rei's apartment;
"Get out!!" she shouted, sitting straight up in bed. She was breathing heavily and wiped the sweat off her forehead. She stopped when she felt something cold touch her forehead. She yanked her hand down and looked at her wrist. Resting on it was a silver moon and stars bracelet. Rei's eyes widened, her entire body shaking.
"It happened."
She looked at her left hand and saw that her knuckles were bruised and had some blood on them. Shakily, she pulled off the bracelet and threw it across the room.
Wrapping her arms around her knees and laying her forehead on them, Rei tried to calm down. She coughed and closed her eyes.
She had been having a rather nice dream. Something with cats and magic. At one point she had been on a beach at night and the stars were so close, she could almost touch them. She could smell the salt in the water and feel the sand under her feet. Rei's toes curled reflexively at this point. She had been watching the moonlight on the water when he had shown up. She could sense him in her mind, and had used the fog to keep him busy. A lot of good that did, he found her anyway.
Rei flopped back down on the bed and rolled over onto her stomach. She glanced at the floor and saw the glint of the bracelet in the darkness. Rolling off the bed and scooping up the bracelet, she turned on her bedside lamp to get a better look.
Yep, silver moons and stars. Etched on the stars was a small paw print. Okay, this really did happen. Kurt had somehow gotten into her mind, given her the bracelet and it showed up on her in real life. Now how did he do it and how the hell did she put a stop to it?
"Maybe it's a vampire thing?" she thought. "Oh, so that makes Jean and the Professor vampires as well, seeing as how they can get into people's minds too." a part of her mind said.
"Yeah, but they never put a bracelet on my wrist in my mind, and then when I wake up it's there on my wrist." another part replied.
"True enough. So now what?" Rei asked herself. She thought about it for a bit. "Hmmm. I guess it's time to pay a visit to Callie."
Later that morning, Rei went downtown to Charmed, an occult shop run by a friend of hers named Callie Haliwell. Callie was about 24 years old, had dark reddish-brown hair to the middle of her back, olive skin, glass green eyes and a small scattering of freckles across her nose.
Rei stepped inside the store. "Callie?" she called.
"Over here kitty cat." came the reply.
Rei started walking towards Callie's voice. Charmed was a big store. It had a loft and a very big ground floor, both with hard wood floors. Callie's voice had come from the loft. Rei walked through the first floor display of items of protection; shelves of books lined the walls, and passed the jewelry case where Callie kept the swords, knives and cash register, to the loft.
Callie was also one of the few people who knew what Rei really was. "What's up Rei?" Callie asked as Rei stepped onto the loft.
"You know anything about this?" Rei asked, showing her the bracelet.
Callie took the bracelet and looked closely at it. ?I think so. Let me see.? she replied. They walked back downstairs and into the back room Callie kept.
?Tea?? she asked.
?Sure. Cold, sugar, and lemon.?
Callie made a face. ?How can you drink your tea cold??
?How can you drink yours hot?? Rei retorted, as Callie poured her a glass and set lemon and sugar on the table in front of her. Rei stirred in the lemon and two packets of sugar.
?So what is it?? she asked, setting her chin in her right hand, elbow on the table.
Callie grabbed the bracelet again and turned to a shelf overhead. ?Looks to be?.? Callie pulled down a book and flipped through it. ?It?s Celtic.?
?Celtic??
?Yeah. Didn?t you tell me, that at one point, your family was Celtic??
?A few centuries back, yeah. Why??
?Well apparently the bracelet is a type of protection.?
?It is??
Callie nodded and read. ?It can be given in a dream and who ever gives it can tell when the wearer is danger.? She continued, and Rei found that not only would the giver be able to tell when the wearer was in danger, but be able to mentally talk to the wearer whenever they wished, and, if not already, be able to enter their dreams.
Rei choked on her tea and set the glass down with a thump.
?Are you okay?? Callie asked.
Rei coughed. ?I?m fine. Just that??
??Just that? what Rei? Something?s up and you?re not telling me. What is it? Does it have something to do with that guy you told me about??
?I knew it, you are psychic.?
?Don?t avoid the question, get on with it Rei.?
Rei sighed and quietly filled Callie in on her relationship with Kurt, up to the last time she had seen him alive.
?We had gone out to dinner and he walked me back to my room after we got home. He kissed me goodnight and that was the last time I saw him alive.?
?Why do I not think that?s the end of the story?? Callie asked.
?Oh don?t worry, there?s more.? Rei replied. ?The next day we found out that he was gone. We looked all over the grounds and found nothing. The Professor couldn?t even feel anything psychically. He was dead.? Rei refilled her glass and stared at the table. ?I spent days afterward crying my heart out. I couldn?t sleep, I couldn?t eat, I couldn?t think. I just existed.?
?That?s it?? Callie asked unbelievingly.
Rei clutched her glass so hard that it shattered. Callie jumped. Rei opened her hand and shook off the glass.
?No, I saw him again. Only he was a vampire.?
?Are you serious?? Callie asked, as she started to clean Rei?s hand.
?You?re a little psychic and you?re asking me if vampires are real?? Rei deadpanned. ?Anyway, is there any way to stop this??
Callie finished with Rei?s hand and scanned the book. ?Um?yeah.?
?What is it??
?I don?t know if you?re gonna like it, considering how close you are to this guy.?
?Was close. I was close to Kurt. He?s dead now. What do I have to do??
Callie just stared at Rei. ?You sure??
?I want this gone. What. Do. I. Have. To. Do??
Callie sighed. ?You have to kill him. That?s the only way to stop this.?
?Does it say how to get the job done??
Callie flipped through the book, mumbling under her breath. ?Um, not really. Just normal stuff. Beheading, staking, fire, that sort of thing.?
?Yay, I get to pick.? Rei replied, walking out of the room.
Callie abandoned the book and followed Rei to the display of swords. ?Rei, you just can?t-?
?Can?t what? Can?t get rid of this thing in my head? I can and I will. Now what is the best way to get rid of a vampire and make damn sure it doesn?t come back?? Rei growled, her eyes flashing yellow.
?Stake through the heart, beheading. In that order.?
?According to the book? Any specific type of wood or metal I gotta use or will any kind do??
Callie nodded. ?Yeah, according to the book, but no specifics.?
Rei nodded, slipped the bracelet into her pocket and walked out the door, throwing a thank you over her shoulder.
Rei walked down the street and took the trolley back to her apartment. She opened the door and went into her bedroom. Reaching up onto the shelf at the top of her closet, she pulled down a plain wood box. She had bought it during a trip to Japan before she had met Kurt. Rei sat on the bed and removed the lid of the box. Resting inside was a small sword. The blade was two and a half feet long and the hilt was made of steel and had a leather grip. All in all it was a plain looking sword. Then again, Rei had bought it for function, not for looks.
?Now about a stake.? Rei thought, as she polished the blade and put it back in the box. Rei found and cut a length of wood from a white ash tree that was as long as her forearm and as thick as three of her fingers. She spent the afternoon sharpening the stake and training with the sword. Around 6:30, she got dressed in black leather pants, a black tank top, braided her hair back and threw on a pair of black sneakers. She put the sword in its sheath and slid it onto her back. To hide it, she put on her black leather jacket, and slid the stake up her sleeve. Rei walked out the door and started hunting for Kurt. ?Here I came lover, you can run but you can?t hide.?
Rei stepped out of her building and focused her breathing, using the pulse at the back of her head to find Kurt. Rei?s eyes fluttered and her heartbeat and breathing sped up. Images flickered across her mind. The bridge, several streets, and an alley. The name seared itself on her brain and the flow of information stopped. Rei headed for downtown. Twenty minutes later, Rei turned onto Vine Avenue and headed towards the alley. The pulse in her head had been getting stronger the closer she got, and right now it was semi screaming at her. She, with a little bit of difficulty, shoved it to the back of her mind, and walked into the alley.
There he was. He had someone with him. From the look of things, Rei was going to be interrupting his dinner. Oh well, his loss, not her problem.
?Do you always get dinner to go or do you dine in some nights?? she asked rhetorically, stepping up behind Kurt.
Kurt growled and stood up, letting his victim go. ?Forget.? he said, waving his hand in front of the young man?s eyes. ?Leave.? Kurt commanded.
The man turned and left.
Kurt wiped the blood from his lips and turned to face Rei. ?Lovely to see you libeling, but the last I checked, you didn?t want to see me at all. And now you?re actively seeking me out. Why??
?You know why.? Rei replied. ?I want this connection gone now.?
?You sure?? Kurt asked, stepping closer.
?I?m sure.? Rei hissed, stepping away and letting the stake slide out of her jacket sleeve and into her hand.
?You?re welcome to try.? Kurt replied, aiming a kick at her.
Rei dodged the kick and threw a punch and kick combination. The kick connected with Kurt?s jaw but, the punch missed and Kurt grabbed her fist, twisting her around so that her back was to his chest, and her arms were locked around her waist.
?Why? I didn?t mean for this connection to happen, it was a mistake. Why do you want it gone so bad?? he whispered in her ear.
Rei breathed in softly. ?Why did you make it?? she responded.
?It was an accident, but I suppose, because I love you.?
Rei laughed bitterly. ?Love? You love me?? She snorted and slammed her head back into Kurt?s, twisting out of his grip. ?If you love me, why did you leave? Why did you go outside that night?? she whispered, surprised at the tears that welled in her eyes.
?I don?t know. Just the way life works, I guess.?
?I guess so too.? Rei said, raising the stake, and leg sweeping Kurt to the ground. ?This stops now.? she growled, slamming the stake through Kurt?s heart.
Kurt?s body spasmed, his entire body feeling like it was on fire, he tried to scream, but found that he couldn?t. Kurt managed to get to his knees when he heard the whisper of metal on metal. Kurt looked up and saw the sword in Rei?s hands. His eyes widened. ?You wouldn?t.? he coughed out.
Rei swung the sword back.
"Rei, please!" he mentally screamed, desperately forcing his way into her mind. "Stop it." he growled, staggering to his feet, using the wall for support. He had heard Rei's mental scream when he had forced his way into her mind, and he was sorry for hurting her, but his survival instincts had kicked in too hard. "Put the sword down Rei."
Rei shook her head. "No."
Kurt hissed slightly, she was being stubborn.
Rei let the sword slice forward and forced Kurt's head back. "Get out of my head."
"Put down the sword."
"Not until you get out of my head." Rei snarled softly, pressing the tip of her sword into Kurt's throat, a drop of blood running down the blade.
She did have a point. The faster her got out of her head, the faster she'd put down the sword, and the faster he could get this stake out 'cause it was really starting to burn.
"Fine." Kurt muttered, shutting the door, so to speak, that was Rei's mind.
Rei felt a small pressure and a click.
"There. Now could you-"
"No way."
"Rei, you got a stake in me and a sword in your hands, I won't do a damn thing."
Which was true; Kurt couldn't do anything until he got the stake out. Speaking of said stake, Kurt noticed that it was white ash, a good type of wood to kill vampires with. Other good choices were oak, walnut, and cherry. But she had forgotten one thing.
To have it blessed and dipped in holy water.
The only difference it made, was the paint factor. If she had dipped and blessed the stake, he'd be in a lot more pain. If she chopped off his head, then it really wouldn't matter how much pain he was in, now would it?
Rei looked at Kurt and thought about what he said. "Alright. But if you try anything, you can say goodbye to your unlife." She took the sword from his throat, but kept it handy.
With a blur of motion, Kurt pulled the stake out with a growl of pain and tried to get away as fast as he could.
"Hey!" Rei shouted, as she followed, aiming to jump on his back to knock him down.
Kurt, even though he was injured, whipped around and grabbed Rei, holding her by the throat in mid air.
"Buffy you are not." Rei thought, as her foot lashed out to kick Kurt. "Let go." she hissed.
Kurt snarled and pulled Rei close. "Did you really think that you could beat me?" he asked, opening the link between them and tightening his grip.
"Let go of me." she choked out, beginning to gasp for breath. Rei grabbed at Kurt's hand, clawing at it to get free. Black dots clouded her vision. "Can't breathe." she thought, before she finally passed out.
Sighing softly. Kurt gathered her in his arms, and began to walk home.

Beamie, don't take any of this personally, I really do like the story. It has lots of good images and ideas. Here's a few suggestions, comments and maybe a direction to go with the story:
I would explain the background information of the crossover material a bit more. It may explain some of the characters' actions.
Why didn't Kurt explain to Rei that he was turned into a vampire against his will? And honestly, I don't think Kurt would just shrug and go with suddenly being a vampire. I think he would fight it, and since he didn't, you need to explain why. Is that something that would be understandable if we knew the crossover material? Was he under mind control from his sire? Did being changed give him some new instinct to cut all his ties and be a jerk?
I would explain a bit more about how Kurt betrayed his master and was banished from New York. That sounds like an interesting subplot. It would also go a ways to explain his drastic change in behavior.
I like that she kicks his ass in the dream. I would to.
I would do a careful, line-by-line edit. For example, when she punches him it says, "He 'defiantly' hadn't been expecting that." Spell check won't catch that that's supposed to be "definitely."
Well, Kurt's quite a monster in this story. Brava on that. He's manipulative, possesive and nasty. Since he's not the tortured sensitive type vamp, she *should* kill his ass. The man he was would thank her.
As for where to take this story... It looks like she's getting kidnapped, so she could play along with him until she gets the chance to off him. Maybe along the way she could learn: A) he is a monster and deserves to die and she kills him spectacularly; B) that his actions are not all evil and she tries to find a way to save him(after all, the bracelet was a form of protective magic and maybe he betrayed his sire because he did something so horrible even a changed Kurt couldn't stand for it); or C) she joins him.
Myself, I hate to see the elf suffer and would either flat out kill him or save him. If she kills him, Rei would have to deal with her feelings for him and wonder whether she did the right thing. If she saves him, they get to live happily ever after. Ahhh, cute. Of course, her going over to the dark side has its evil charms as well.
Just trying to help.

Oops, sorry about that spelling error. ~bleh~ Must not have been watching that close... Anyways, thanks for the ideas, I like the whole betraying his master thing, so I'll see if I can do anything with that.
Okay, the whole kicking his ass in the dream thing, happened because at the time, I was watching the ending of the Witchblade movie, and writting. The end of the movie was a big fight, and that influenced my writting, and it just fell into place.
The whole "tortured sensitive type vamp" I thought about doing. But then I thought, "Nah, he'd be to much like Angel." And even though I do like Buffy and Angel, I think that's the last thing we need in the fic.
"As for where to take this story... It looks like she's getting kidnapped, so she could play along with him until she gets the chance to off him. Maybe along the way she could learn: A) he is a monster and deserves to die and she kills him spectacularly; B) that his actions are not all evil and she tries to find a way to save him(after all, the bracelet was a form of protective magic and maybe he betrayed his sire because he did something so horrible even a changed Kurt couldn't stand for it); or C) she joins him."
Yeah, yeah, a whole quote from you.... I don't know how to do that multi-quote thingy, so this'll do.
A Oh god, do you have any idea how good that could be?? That would kick ass, but have a sad ending. ~Angst self yells "DO IT!!!" from the corners of my mind. Gee, you can tell what she wants...~
B hmmmm.... If I had some real good nspiration and maybe a lot of suger, this could work. ~Angst self- "It could work. I still say kill him." Romantic self- "SHUT UP!! We're gonna save him! And we're gonna have a happy ending!~ (Does anyone else have this happen to them, or am I the only one? Anyways, moving on...)
C hmmm............. Okay, this leads to a part where we have Kurt turn her. And knowing me, I'd go into details, and it might be kinky, oh all right, it most likely would be, (but it'd be fun too, at least to write) and that just leads to thoughts of vampire sex, and I've got to stop reading those Anita Blake books late at night, don't I? Oooh, Jean-Claude...
Ok, I'll shut up and leave.

NEW STUFF!! *Watches some of you die from shock* Well then, I guess you won't be reading this then, huh? LOL. Ok, once again, Jean-Claude doesn't belong to me, and the werewolf mention in here, Jason, doesn't either. (Wouldn't want him either; just Richard, as soon as he gets his act together and embraces his wolfy self...) They belong to Laurell K. Hamilton. (Duh...)
Kurt entered his apartment and took Rei into his bedroom. He sat her on the bed, took off her jacket and sword, and laid her down. Kurt noticed something in her jean pocket and took it out.
"Figures she wouldn't wear it." Kurt thought and placed the bracelet on the night table next to the bed. He then removed her shoes and covered her with the blankets. Kurt straightened up and winced slightly at the wound in his chest. He would heal in a week or two, but some medical attention wouldn't hurt. Kurt walked out of his room, shutting the door behind him, and into the bathroom. He stopped along the way to lock Rei's jacket, shoes, and sword in the hall closet, along with the stake, after all the last thing that he wanted or needed was some human picking the stake up and proving the existence of vampires.
Flicking the light on with his tail, Kurt went over to the small closet in the bathroom, and took out a bottle of peroxide, anti-septic cream, cotton balls and cotton pads, and a small pair of tweezers. Kurt took off his shirt, growling softly as the muscles around the wound starched, tossed said shirt in the trash, and got his first real good look at the stab wound. Rei had gotten in the general area, but had missed his hart by about an inch, maybe an inch and a half. It had felt like she had actually gotten him at the time. The skin around the wound was inflamed and an angry red color, but on Kurt, it looked like an angry purple. The worst spots were where there were splinters embedded in his skin. The skin there puffed up and took on an ugly and nasty yellow-green color. Grimly Kurt picked up the tweezers and began to pluck out the splinters. As he did so, the burning sensation began to fade and when he had gotten them all out, it was almost gone. The muscles and skin slowly began to knit back together, itching as they did so. Kurt blotted on some peroxide, which foamed white on contact with his skin, ignoring the sting, and then added some anti-septic cream. Kurt covered the puncture with a cotton pad and threw away the used cotton after putting the medical supplies away.
He left the bathroom and focused on what was happening in his bedroom.
"Still asleep. Good." Kurt looked down at his chest. "Nasty little bite for a kitty." He snorted, and started for the kitchen. To get to his kitchen, Kurt had to go through the living room. The room had a huge set of windows that let in lots of light, which he could cut off using heavy drapes, and a great view of the bay. The floor was made of hard wood and scattered about were a few overstuffed chairs and a sofa covered in white fabric. There was a fireplace at one end, but it was rarely used. Kurt grabbed the remote for the t.v., and tuned into the news as he came through. They were doing the weather, a little rain a little fog later this week, as Kurt opened the fridge and removed a bag of blood. He got a cup from the cabinet and, tearing the bag at the corner, poured the contents into the cup. Kurt had fed tonight, but Rei had interrupted the near end of it, and he was still a bit peckish. Plus the blood would help with the healing.
Kurt plopped down on the sofa, ignoring the throb of pain, and sipped his blood. He had been hurt worse then this, god know that Jean-Claude had seen to that, the bastard that he was. Kurt grinned, licking the blood of his bottom lip, glad that he had led that slayer to his "master's" sleeping spot. He was all too willing and happy to hand Jean-Claude to the slayer, who was there to take care of the Master of the City. Mostly because Jean-Claude had, on occasion, beaten the living hell out of Kurt, because according to him, Kurt "continued to be stubborn and headstrong and not obey his master.". This happened mostly after he had left Rei and was trying to figure out just what he was going to do now that he had severed ties with his mortal family. Sometimes he just was kicked around maybe get off with a lot of bruises, and a broken rib or two. Other times he'd be whipped until his back and chest were dripping blood and looked like raw hamburger. (That had taken a year and seven months to heal completely.) But by far the worst torments were these, and they went in this order.
(1) Not being allowed to feed on any form of blood, animal or human, for six weeks (vampires can go a maximum of four weeks without blood if they have to.), and then being left in the sun (vampires can go out into the light, but not unless they have to.).
The worst offenders are left to die. But Kurt, after screaming and begging and swearing that he'd obey, was yanked back inside.
"See that you do." Jean-Claude hissed, as Kurt laid smoking and slightly charred at his feet.
"Yes, Master." he whispered, painfully nodding his head.
(2) Being locked in a coffin that's got silver crosses and chains on it, and then walled in. You never got fed, or visited. You were just left there in the coffin and wall forever, with no one to hear you if you screamed. And if they did, they laughed, glad it wasn't them in there.
Kurt teleported out the three times that they tried that.
(3) Having your jaw broken so badly that you can't feed at all, until an older vampire takes pity on you, and feeds you by spoon.
That had happened twice and Jean-Claude had one of his werewolves, Jason, feed Kurt, after he told Jean-Claude he'd be good. The second time, was when Kurt decided that he had had enough of Jean-Claude and tracked down the slayer.

Oh, Beamie, I wouldn't give up. You've got the makings of a cool story here, and I don't think people mean to ignore fic here on the monument. It is a trend I've been noticing when I post my own stuff, though. I imagine people read it, say "well, cool," and go on.
We recently had a huge discussion on Outside the Lines about feedback. Most people seem to just think the stories will just keep coming, so why reply or send feedback. Now that's a very wrong idea for people to have. Fanficcers write only for fun and feedback, since we don't get paid in any other way. If we don't think anyone is reading, or cares about what we're writing, we won't write.
But like I said, I don't think it's anything personal. So I say you should go for it and finish the story.
And now, so I don't make myself a hypocrite:
Your last section was kind of an interlude and had a flashbacky feel. That's cool, I just hope Rei wakes up in your next section.
She still has the bracelet. Hmmm...so does that mean there's hope that she saved it for sentimental reasons? Maybe she's so mad at him for dying and leaving her. She wants to kill him for that reason more than that it bugs her that he's a vampire.
Eeww. Good description of the wound and medical stuff. It made me twitch.
Okay, that Jean-Claude is a bastard. He certainly deserved to be betrayed. Those vampire tortures were very inventively nasty. I like that.

Cool! Thanks ~huggs Slarti~ It's nice to know that SOMEONE is liking this fic. For those of you (on here and around the net) who don't reply, do so anyways, please. Even if it's to tell me you think my fic, sucks, at least it's a reply.... (That rarely happends, and when it does, I normally just laugh. Constuctive critism (sp?) on the other hand, I like.) In other words, if you don't reply, I kinda starve to death, writting wise. (If that makes any sense.....)
Jean-Claude isn't normally an asshole, but for this he needed to be, so he is.
For the med stuff, I just looked at what we have in our bathroom closet at home, and pictured Kurt with an icky wound.
Rei will wake up soon promise, and maybe some more flashbacks as well....

Well, I have new stuff. I'll post ASAP. (Like tomorrow.) But due to lack of interest, should I just stop writting this fic, and leave it, or what? I'm still intesrested in this fic, but you guys are an influence on me, and I get the feeling that you don't care what happens in the fic. So if you guys say kill it, I will. If you don't, I won't. I leave it up to you.

GAK! No, we care! [Actually, I just now found your addition: I have been very busy lately with school and am trying to catch up with all the discussions going on in the board]. The fact that now that I have the time the forum's download period has become slower does not help
You have left me in suspense here. I mean, what's going to happen now when Rei wakes up? That and, well, that is some torture NC had to go through (made my skin crawl, no pun intended). (*Bitte, bitte, don't kill him!*). Just believe me when I say this: your fic rocks! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Okay, the fact that it now takes longer to read stuff here, does really suck. Thanks nightcrwlr. Here's some more, like I promised.
He found him in a club about a block off 29th Street called The Rox. The slayer's name was Tony. He was six feet tall, had blonde hair and blue-green eyes. He had come to town tracking another vampire, and after he was done, had heard that the Master of the City was around. That was a month ago and Kurt was willing to talk.
"So what do you want?"
"You want the Master, I'll take you to him."
Tony snorted. "Right. And a demon like you is gonna give him to me?"
"I'm not a demon. I'll give you the Master, just leave me out of it."
Tony put down his drink and leaned forward. "You don't want anyone to know it was you who betrayed the Master, do you?"
Kurt growled softly. "Why should you care as long as you get the Master?" he asked, knowing that if he was caught, he'd in the best case, be banished, and in the worst case, be killed.
"You're right. Why should I?" Tony retorted, and slammed back the rest of his drink.
"Tomorrow night." Kurt said. "I'll show you who the Master is and where as well." He got up to leave.
"Why?" Tony asked.
"Why what?"
"Why are you doing this? I thought that all of the Master's children obeyed."
"Some of us want the Master gone."
"Suit yourself blue boy. See ya back here tomorrow."
"Fine." Kurt replied and left the club.
Kurt sighed and came out of his memories, draining the rest of his cup. His ears twitched and Kurt tuned in to the beginnings of Rei waking up.
"Better go make sure she doesn't escape." he thought, putting his cup down and getting up to go into his bedroom.
Rei shifted and rolled over onto her right side, opening her eyes.
"What the…" she, still somewhat sleepily, thought taking in her surroundings. She got up, sniffing softly, the place smelled of Kurt. "At least I know where I am. Sorta." she whispered.
Pushing aside the curtain, star and moonlight flooding the room, Rei looked outside.
"Still in 'frisco, night," She looked down. "and too damn high to jump. Unless I really want to break some bones."
At this point, the door opened and Kurt came in. Rei growled, he fangs and claws extending.
"Do you really think that scares me?" Kurt asked, shutting the door.
"Why don't we find out?" Rei hissed and leapt into the air, doing a full shift, aiming for Kurt's throat.
Kurt braced himself and as he caught Rei in midair, shifted his weight back to his left leg, while swinging her around, and slammed Rei into the door.
Rei yowled in pain and rage. "Let go of me." she rasped, her body shifting back slightly, feet hanging a few inches off the ground.
"No."
"Yesss!!" Rei replied, her voice raspy and feline.
"No."
Rei growled in frustration and tried to dart forward to bite Kurt.
Kurt moved back and she snapped her jaws on nothing but air. "I've already been bitten by you once, I don't feel like doing it again." Kurt said, tightening his grip painfully.
Rei mewled slightly in pain, kicking out with her feet, getting Kurt somewhat off balance. The elf staggered back and Rei squirmed out of his hands, shoving him away. While Kurt was trying to regain his balance, Rei leg swept him to the floor and he fell with a thunk.

Oh, no, please, don't leave us now like this! THAT is cruel and unusual punishment. What's going to happen? (*and am I so strange that I had to picture NC falling "thunk" on his butt? That wasn't what you meant, right? )
